ChatGPT

Overview

ChatGPT Edu from OpenAI is Harvard’s institutionally managed AI workspace for teaching, learning, research, and administrative work.  It can help create and revise text, analyze files and data, generate images and code, search the web, conduct cited research, and autonomously complete multi-step tasks.

All Harvard ChatGPT Edu licenses include:

  • ChatGPT Chat: A conversational AI interface available on the web, desktop, and mobile. Use it for writing and editing, brainstorming, summarization, data analysis, coding, image generation, and general productivity tasks.
  • Codex: An AI coding agent for software-development tasks, including understanding codebases, writing and reviewing code, debugging, and working through complex development workflows.
  • Deep Research: A research tool that searches and synthesizes information from the web and, where enabled, connected sources, producing a structured report with citations.
  • ChatGPT Work: An agentic workflow for longer, multi-step tasks. It can plan and carry out research and analysis, work with files and approved connected apps, and create finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other outputs.
  • Projects, Canvas, and custom GPTs: Tools for organizing ongoing work, collaborating on writing or code, and building tailored versions of ChatGPT for specific tasks or audiences.
