Tech Talk: Accessibility as Agile: Build It into Done
Date and Time
Join us for our next Tech Talk where we'll hear from Janell Sims, Manager, Digital Accessibility Services in HUIT, about how to incorporate accessibility into every project.
Learn how to weave accessibility into each stage of the project management lifecycle, from planning and design to development and QA. Janell will share practical, real-world examples showing how proactive accessibility planning saves time, reduces costly code fixes, and leads to better products. While grounded in Agile practices like user stories, acceptance criteria, and definition of done, these strategies can apply to project management more broadly. Attendees will get hands-on practice writing accessibility-first requirements and acceptance criteria, plus strategies for building buy-in and shifting from a reactive to proactive mindset.
The Tech Talks series brings together the Harvard IT community to continue the IT Summit’s spirit of peer learning, connection, and innovation throughout the academic year. This event is sponsored by HUIT Administration, and the presentation will be recorded and posted on the HUIT website after the event. Please contact Deirdre Schreiber with questions or requests for accommodation.
